Bedridden Beneficiaries :Individuals who, due to serious health issues, cannot leave their residence.
Requires a Referral :Access to these services requires a referral from your Personal Doctor or a Specialist Doctor.
Coverage and Procedures:
Number of Visits: GESY covers up to 12 home visits per beneficiary per year..
Additional Visits: In exceptional cases where more visits are necessary, a request can be submitted by the treating doctor and nurse. The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) will evaluate the request based on provided documentation.
Indicatively, the following cases are covered:
Pressure ulcers (bedsores)
Urinary catheters
Nasogastric tubes
Gastrostomies
Administration of intravenous fluids

Medical Supplies and Consumables:
Prescription: Any necessary medical devices or consumables are prescribed by the treating doctor.
Acquisition: These can be obtained from hospital pharmacies or private pharmacies, depending on the item.
Assistance from Nurse: If the beneficiary or a family member cannot collect the items, and with proper authorization, the nurse may acquire them on behalf of the beneficiary. The nurse will need personal details such as the beneficiary's ID number and date of birth to provide to the pharmacy.
Important Information:
Services Outside Regular Hours: Nurses may provide services during weekends or outside standard hours, depending on their availability.
Services Beyond GESY Coverage: If a beneficiary does not have a referral or has exhausted the maximum number of covered visits, they may still receive services from a GESY-contracted nurse, but they will bear the cost themselves.
